## Role Overview: Senior Policy Manager (Digital)
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is the Australian government’s principal agency responsible for advancing our national interests internationally. By driving security, prosperity, and high-quality development programs, DFAT shapes the foreign and trade policies that define Australia’s global footprint.
As a Senior Policy Manager, you will work under limited direction to provide expert research, policy advice, and project management support. Your primary focus will be Indonesia’s rapidly evolving digital economy and other critical economic issues that directly impact the bilateral relationship.
Key Responsibilities
In this pivotal role, you will be expected to:
* Lead Digital Policy Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for digital policy issues across the Embassy.
* Conduct Strategic Analysis: Provide comprehensive, timely reporting and research on Indonesia’s economic landscape, specifically focusing on digital transformation.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain a robust network of contacts within the Indonesian government, industry leaders, research institutions, and non-governmental organizations.
* Representation: Represent the Australian government at conferences and seminars; facilitate high-level diplomatic outreach and problem-solving initiatives.
* Operational Support: Manage logistics for ministerial and official visits, ensuring seamless execution of programs for both Australian and Indonesian delegations.
* Communication: Draft high-level correspondence and provide professional interpretation/translation services as required.
## Essential Qualifications and Experience
To succeed in this position, you must possess a blend of analytical rigor, political acumen, and exceptional communication skills. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
* Professional Expertise: A tertiary degree is mandatory. Experience within the digital sector or private industry (start-up environment) will be considered a distinct advantage.
* Analytical Ability: Proven capacity to identify, synthesize, and explain complex digital policies and their implications for both Australian and Indonesian contexts.
* Operational Excellence: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
* Communication Proficiency: Superior written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to produce high-quality reporting and engage effectively in advocacy and liaison roles.

* Salary Range: IDR 31,350,960 to IDR 38,016,185 per month.
